TRANSPORTATION & UTILITIES

Strategically Located

Roanoke Rapids is strategically located on the eastern seaboard on I-95 about halfway between New York and Florida markets. The city sits at the intersection of I-95 and US 158, a designated statewide strategic corridor that extends from I-85 to the NC coast. Roanoke Rapids is about equidistant from the major metropolitan markets of Raleigh-Durham in North Carolina and Richmond and Tidewater markets in Virginia. The 180 mile population base is about 11 million.

Access to Major Air & Sea Ports
Roanoke Rapids has easy access to airports in the region. The Halifax-Northampton Regional Airport (IXA), a modern general aviation facility, is located 10 minutes from Roanoke Rapids. Major commercial airports are located in Richmond (90 miles) and Raleigh-Durham (70 miles). Access to ports is via Norfolk, Virginia (102 miles), Wilmington (170 miles) and Morehead City (165 miles) North Carolina.

Utility Services Available for Growth
Roanoke Rapids is fortunate to have all major utility services available for growth and development, including electric, gas, telecommunications and water/sewer. The Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District has excess water and sewer treatment capacity available, therefore there are no limitations to business or industrial growth and development in the area.
